About Us
Faceless Media was born from a story that changed the way I see the world. Here’s how that story became a mission to help others tell their own.
Hi, I’m Valerie Hincapie, the founder of Faceless Media. I’m a storyteller, photographer, videographer, and communications professional with one big belief: there’s always more to someone than what meets the eye.
That belief has shaped my life, my career, and ultimately, the reason Faceless Media exists.
The story behind the name
I was born with a condition called Moebius syndrome, a rare neurological condition that affects the sixth and seventh cranial nerves, which control many of the movements of the eyes and face. In my case, I was born without these two nerves, which means I’m unable to move my eyes laterally, fully close my lips, or make facial expressions like most people, and I cannot smile.

Growing up, I quickly learned what it felt like to be judged for something people could see before they ever got to know me. While I was loved and accepted at home, school was a different story. I experienced years of bullying, rejection, and isolation, often feeling as though the way I looked spoke louder than anything I could say.
In middle school, my disability became another reason for people to single me out. I remember being made fun of for riding a school bus designated for students with disabilities. One day, sitting on that bus in tears, I found myself wishing for something that seemed so simple to me:
Why can’t the world be Faceless?
A world where we look beyond faces, appearances, labels, and assumptions. A world where we judge people by the content of their hearts rather than what we see on the surface. A world where we approach one another with kindness, empathy, and a willingness to understand.
The word Faceless stayed with me. And so did the dream of creating that kind of world.
How storytelling changed my life
I eventually discovered something that helped me build the world I had imagined: storytelling.
When I began sharing my own story, something changed. In middle school, I created a PowerPoint presentation about my condition and shared it with my peers. It helped them understand me in a way they hadn’t before, eased some of the bullying, and opened the door to new friendships. Later, sharing my story with scholarship organizations helped me earn a full ride scholarship to university.
Those experiences taught me something I carry into everything I do today: when people understand the story behind someone, they have the opportunity to see them differently.
Stories can challenge assumptions. They can build connections where there was once distance. They can help us recognize parts of ourselves in people whose lives look nothing like our own.
And sometimes, all it takes is hearing someone’s story to change the way we see them.
That realization became more than a personal lesson. It became my passion, my education, and eventually, my career. I studied Communications and Journalism, determined to become a better storyteller and use that skill to help people connect, understand, and see beyond the surface.
That belief is at the heart of Faceless Media.
Over the years, I’ve built my career around storytelling in its many forms. I’ve spent the past four years helping businesses and organizations with social media, creating videos and short form content for local and national clients. I’ve worked as a marketing specialist, photographed brands, events, and weddings for nearly five years, and explored storytelling through audio and writing. I’m also a spoken word poet and published poetry book author.
Each experience has taught me something different about the way we communicate, connect, and share what matters to us.
And through working with businesses, I’ve noticed something: a business can offer an incredible service, have a passionate team, or make a genuine difference in its community, yet struggle to communicate what makes it special. Sometimes its online presence doesn’t reflect the quality of its work. Sometimes the people behind it get lost in the marketing. And sometimes, the story is there all along; it just needs someone to help bring it to life.
That’s why I created Faceless Media.
Faceless Media is a small, independent storytelling agency built to help businesses show the world who they really are. Through professional photography, video, branding, social media, podcasts, and other creative services, we help uncover the people, purpose, personality, and passion behind a business and share those things in ways that feel authentic to who they are.
Because effective storytelling shouldn’t begin with a trend, a template, or what everyone else is doing. It should begin with understanding.
We take the time to learn about your business, what makes you different, who you want to reach, and what you want people to understand about you. From there, we work together to find the right ways to tell your story, creating content that reflects your identity rather than trying to fit you into someone else’s formula.
Whether you need professional photography, compelling videos, a stronger social media presence, a written brand story, or a combination of creative services, the goal is the same: to help people see what makes your business worth knowing.
Your business is more than a logo, a product, or a social media feed. There’s a story behind it. Let’s make sure people get to see it.
More than a business
Faceless Media is also part of something bigger.
My long term dream is to grow Faceless into an independent media company that uses stories, conversations, and community to help people better understand one another. I believe a more empathetic world begins when we’re willing to look beyond our assumptions and make room for other people’s stories.
Through Faceless Media, I get to bring that belief into the business world, helping businesses connect with their audiences while building relationships with the people and organizations that make our communities what they are.
To me, storytelling has never been just about creating something beautiful or getting attention. It’s about helping people understand what matters, showing them what’s possible, and making meaningful connections.
That’s the heart behind everything I do.
I’m Valerie Hincapie. I’m a storyteller by profession, a poet by heart, and someone who has spent a lifetime believing in a world that looks a little deeper.
Welcome to Faceless Media.
Let’s tell your story.
